Bio:
Silke Bargstädt-Franke has been heading the Division of Cyber Security for Digitalisation and Electronic Identities at the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) since March 2021. In this role, she is responsible for cybersecurity aspects in the continuous growing field of digitalisation projects of the federal government, with a focus on secure electronic identities.
Beforehand, Silke worked as Global Vice President Product Management at Veridos GmbH and was in charge of the complete product portfolio. She joined G+D/Veridos in 2009 and held several leadership positions in Project- and Product Management.
Silke started her career in 1999 taking over different functions in Development, Project Management and Technical Marketing at Infineon Technologies/Qimonda A.G. She is based in Bonn and holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Hamburg, Germany.

Presentation 2-Line Description:
Since 2017, the German eID – which offers an online functionality to citizens to use eGovernment services up to the eIDAS trust level ‘high’ - can be used with the NFC interface of a smartphone and the free-of-charge software ‘AusweisApp2’. In 2021, an additional and more convenient add-on to the online function will be released: the Smart-eID. This solution stores the German eID as a digital ID on smartphones. Details of the new Smart-eID will be shown, including its use as additional identification and authentication method for governmental and commercial services.
