Anthony Pizzari has been with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for 21 years.
He started his career as an Immigration Officer at Toronto’s Pearson Airport. In 2005, he moved to the CBSA Document Analysis Unit in Toronto where he reviewed suspected fraudulent documents intercepted at the port of entry.
From 2013 to 2017, Anthony worked overseas in Nigeria and China as a Visa Officer before taking up a position at the National Document Centre in Ottawa.
Anthony holds a Master’s of Public Administration from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
The need for travellers to present a valid COVID-19 test prior and a Proof of Vaccination certificate to travel was/is necessary to protect the health of citizens and economic activity, but verifying these results has presented challenges to Border Officers and how borders are managed. This presentation will explore how the pandemic has disrupted the identity and travel continuum from a Canadian perspective and how digital and paper documentation need to work together to help overcome these challenges.
