The Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (IPZS) was founded in 1928 and in 2002 turned into a joint-stock company with the Ministry of Economy and Finance as its sole shareholder.
Since the acquisition of the Mint in 1978 IPZS has been also entrusted with the coinage of Italian circulating and numismatic coins, along with legal tenders for a number of foreign countries, such as the Vatican State and the Republic of San Marino.
As Government supplier of all the Italian identification documents, IPZS has always been at the service of citizens, public administrations and private companies through the design and development of high-tech solutions aimed at safeguarding the physical and digital identity of individuals and products, as well as promoting and disseminating the regulatory, cultural, and artistic heritage of the country.
More and more focused on technological and digital innovation, IPZS also designs and develops portals and information systems, integrated solutions, web and mobile apps with an increasing commitment to constantly reduce the environmental impact of production processes to build a sustainable future.
