As Senior Coordinator of Police Data Management at the INTERPOL General Secretariat, Fabrizio Di Carlo supervises the Database and Criminal Data Management Branches as well as Quality Assurance and Notice Branch, and also serves on the Committee for the Revision of the INTERPOL Rules on the Processing of Data.
Fabrizio is in charge of INTERPOL’s main border management databases, in particular the Digital INTERPOL Alert Library – Documents (Dial-Doc) that will soon evolve into Frontex INTERPOL Electronic Library Document System (FIELDS), focusing on bringing fraudulent travel document information to first line border/police officials.
Fabrizio also represents his organisation within international fora to strengthen the security of international borders and to prevent counterfeiting, forgery or fraudulent use of identity papers and travel documents by enhancing passenger security procedures such as the Electronic Documentation and Information System on Investigation Networks (EDISON) and the Document Information System Civil Status (DISCS).
Fabrizio holds a master’s degree in Strategic Border Management, university degrees in both Political Science and Law, and a junior degree in Engineering focusing on Telecommunication.
Before joining INTERPOL, he worked in Italy for the Polizia di Stato from 1993 to 2009 where he held numerous roles in international cooperation and operational areas.
