Harriet Plumb has worked in the identity and security documents sector for six years and currently holds the position of Regional Sales Director at Portals.
Responsible for the growth of Portal’s global passport and secure document business, Harriet has a strong understanding of the sector and solid professional relationships with many of the leading security printers, issuing authorities and government agencies, such as the National Document Fraud Unit (NDFU), across the world.
Prior to joining Portals, Harriet worked as specialist legal advisor within the private client legal field, having graduated from the University of Lincoln, England, with a LLB Law Degree.
This presentation will focus on the latest threats against the UK passport and on the importance of training and partnerships with identity document manufacturers in empowering border officials, amongst other tactics, to confidently identify fake documents. We will argue that reliance on technology is not a good thing. Whilst we must advance, it is undeniable that something as simple as a high-quality cylinder mould watermark remains an effective countermeasure.
