Arne Müller completed his apprenticeship as a physics assistant in 1983 and studied Physical Electronics for six semesters at the Natural Science Technical Academy Isny, Germany. At MTU-Electronics Friedrichshafen, he later focused on electronics production, prototype construction and component maturity.
In 1988 Arne joined Fogra Forschungsinstitut für Medientechnologien e.V. He was appointed Head of the Security Applications (formerly ID Cards/Print Finishing) department in 2009.
Arne has worked on over 28 research projects on printing, print finishing, security features, ID cards and passports. He played a vital role in establishing test procedures for product security in 1992, and has since been developing various tests to assess and ensure tamper-proof security features, passports, and ID cards.
He was involved in establishing Fogra’s ID card testing laboratory in 1996 and has been responsible for implementing and running an ISO/IEC 17025 quality management system for that laboratory since, guiding its development to the highest level of accreditation (Flexible Accredited; All Levels).
Arne is a member of national and international standardisation working groups on passports, ID cards and medicinal product packaging.
The speech will cover developments in digital printing from inkjet to laser, combination printing of digital print types, and printing on different types of substrates including primer and white inks. Developments towards UV fluorescence will be briefly discussed.
