Plenary __ Currency and identity: preparing for the future

Simon Scorer leads the Bank of England’s functional design and technology research on Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC).

Simon joined the Bank of England in 2010, and has been involved in various aspects of their fintech work for a number of years. He was heavily involved in preparing the Bank of England’s recent discussion paper on CBDC.

Prior to working at the Bank of England, Simon studied Maths & Computer Science, before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.

The Bank will provide an update on its current thinking on the topical area of CBDC, including providing insights from the feedback on its consultation document that was issued last year.
