Executive Secretary
National Identification Authority __ Ghana
Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah is the Executive Secretary of Ghana’s National Identification Authority (NIA).
Prior to this, Kenneth held several senior positions at home and abroad. He was Executive Secretary of the National Reconciliation Commission of Ghana, Director of Operations and Chief Investigator of Ghana’s Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and subsequently served as its Director of Anti-Corruption and Public Education. Kenneth was the UN's International Technical Advisor to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Liberia (TRC), as well as a Management Consultant to the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).
Kenneth also served as a Human Rights Commissioner in British Columbia, Canada. Earlier, he also served as a Crime Prevention Policy Advisor/Analyst at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police-West Vancouver Detachment, and later as an Adjudicator with the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board.
A Lawyer and Criminologist by profession, Kenneth is Chairman of the Ghana Refugee Board. He was the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Law and Founding Director of the William Ofori-Atta Institute of Integrity at Central University in Accra, and lectured as Associate Professor of Governance and Leadership at the Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Studies (GIMPA).
Kenneth holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with Political Science from the University of Ghana, a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, and a PhD in Criminology from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada. He is Managing Solicitor of Ken Attafuah Law Place, and the author of, amongst others, the much-acclaimed book Fighting Armed Robbery in Ghana (2008).
Ghana National ID Project
Ghana’s eID project establishes a credible register of all Ghanaians and permanently resident foreigners. It will serve as the single source of truth and proof of identity for all transactions in the country.
