Silvia Kolligs-Tuffery is a team leader for document security in the Unit for Visa and Document Security of the Directorate for Migration, Mobility and Innovation in Directorate General Migration and Home Affairs at the European Commission. As such, her main task is to define, implement and co-ordinate policy, and to develop legislative and operational measures regarding document security policy and, in particular, the harmonisation and security standards of travel documents.
Silvia chairs the committee created by Article 6 of Regulation (EC) 1683/95 on a uniform format for visa, which is composed of experts from Member States and responsible to develop technical specifications for the uniform format for visas, residence permits for third country nationals, passports, and other travel documents issued by Member States. She also represents the European Commission at other international institutions, such as ICAO.
As the development of digital identity systems evolve, the role of physical documents have become increasingly important. It is clear that physical and digital identities must co-exist to serve multiple use cases. This panel will explore such use cases.
