13:30-13:45The ‘Polish Bisons’ promotional banknote – Durability and unique security features
The lifespan of banknotes has been the subject of research by central banks for many years. These studies are based on not only economic aspects but also the application of appropriate security features to the banknotes, and even on ensuring their cleanliness (hygiene considerations for users).
In response to global trends, Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW) carried out a project called ‘Polskie Żubry’ (Polish Bisons), based on developing a technological portfolio that meets the requirements of customers all over the world.
The ‘Polish Bisons’ project enabled the development of unique technical solutions and printing security features, as well as the acquisition of production skills on various substrates requiring different production approaches. Continuous improvement of banknote production competence opens up new markets and new development opportunities for PWPW.
